Things for Railways

Our Buxton works is very unusual in having its own narrow gauge railway! A gaggle of mostly decrepit steam, diesel and electric locos can be located by the hardened enthusiast and our foundry sand continues to be tipped in narrow gauge wagons.

This interest is reflected in the work Leander undertake for preserved and main line railways. Plaques and signs are produced for individual railways, bridge and culvert plates for Network Rail, and Award Plaques for annual presentations.

We also undertake larger scale railway work. In 2007, we have continued restoration of a WW1 steam locomotive and have completed two replica chassis for large WW1 wagons. Castings produced have ranged from name and number plates to clack valves, buffer beams and counterweights. Several Irish locomotives are due to arrive in 2008.

If you need castings or fabrications for your railway, we will be very pleased to help.
