Leander Architectural is able to restore, design and manufacture a vast array of items/equipment related to the rail industry – both mainline and heritage. Site installations are often offered for local councils and other bodies (and indeed we have fitted commemorative plaques to Virgin Rail stations previously) and recently we were pleased to be able to step-up to the challenge of meeting the requirements to enable us to complete installation of our noticeboards safely on an operational mainline station platform.
Plaques and signs are and have been produced for individual railways, bridge and culvert plates for Network Rail, and Award Plaques for annual presentations.
We also undertake larger scale railway work – including work at stations and other sites. In 2007, we continued restoration of a WW1 steam locomotive and have completed two replica chassis for large WW1 wagons.
Castings produced have ranged from name and number plates to clack valves, buffer beams and counterweights.
If you need railway related castings or fabrications for your project, we will be very pleased to help.
Our Buxton works is very unusual in having its own narrow gauge railway. A little gaggle of small locos can be located by the hardened enthusiast and our foundry sand continues to be tipped in narrow gauge wagons!
