We restored the famous Brighton “wedding cake” bandstand a few years ago. Its main supporting columns were massive and featured decorative sectional capitals as shown below.
All were found to be structurally intact but the paintwork was in a terrible state and some of the capital details had broken away.
These photos show the refurbished columns ready to go back to site.
